GEOPORTAL

HEART OF THE GEOPORTAL

In case of dispersed architecture, the most important information is the information about data location. In line with the design, that information is stored at the central server of data locations, which in the scheme has been marked as LOKALIZACJA. The data location server is in fact the server of basic metadata concerning the location of specific services. The server LOKALIZACJA (LOCATION) will contain information about location (addresses) of:

  • services for every register unit,
  • WSP and CSP servers,
  • servers of services for the provincial and central levels,
  • other local geoportals maintained by public administration.

The assumption has been made that the basic unit for distribution of data at the district/county level will be the register unit. In most of the cases the register unit is identical with municipality.

In case of urban-rural municipalities, very often the urban and rural parts form separate register units. Of course, several register units may be served by the same cadastral server. We assumed that no more than one cadastral server will provide the same services (e.g. WMS(1)) for one register unit.

The server LOKALIZACJA (LOCATION) shall store the following data:

  • for register unit:
    • number of register unit (TERYT number)
    • name of register unit
    • name of municipality
    • coordinates of the rectangle comprising the area of the given register unit (coordinates of the lower left and upper right corner in the 92 system)
    • address of the WMS(1) service
    • address of the WMS(1a) service
    • address of the WFS(1) service
    • address of the WMS(2) service
    • address of the WFS(2) service
    • address of the OSN(1) service
    • address of the WMS(1) service
    • address of the OPE service
    • address of the EGB service
    • address of the local geoportal maintained by the local administration

  • for a province:
    • number of the province (voivodship) (TERYT number)
    • name of the province (voivodship)
    • coordinates of the rectangle comprising the area of the province/voivodship (coordinates of the lower left and upper right corner in the 92 system)
    • address of the WSP (provincial/voivodship server proxy)
    • address of the WMS(3) service
    • address of the WMS(4) service
    • address of the WFS(4) service
    • address of the local geoportal maintained by the self-government administration

  • for the country:
    • address of the CSP (central server proxy)
    • address of the WMS(5) service
    • address of the WMS(6) service
    • address of the WMS(7) service
    • address of the WFS(7) service
    • address of the OSN(2) service
    • address of the server responsible for data collection for updating TPD
    • address of the server responsible for data collection for updating BDO
    • address of the server responsible for data collection for updating PRG
    • address of the server responsible for data collection for updating IPE
    • address of the server responsible for data collection for updating dealing with orders ZLECENIA (ORDERS).

The above data will be made available publicly as Catalogue Service, and also in special format optimized for the application of map browser (server GEOPORTAL).

The other format shall enable quick location of specific successive services during the operation of map shifting and scaling.

The data shall be gathered solely via a special form available at the data location server. Authorization for modification shall be provided to districts/counties (documentation centres) in respect of register units located in their areas, and authorized units (provincial and central documentation centres) from the level of provinces and central level. Logging to the data location server will be possible in encryption mode, with the use of user name and password, while every change shall require confirmation with a code from the card of unique codes. Such drastic safety precautions are required, because many people will use the internet addresses provided on the server. An unauthorized change of those addresses would enable rerouting to any address in the world.

OGC services do not have any protective mechanisms, that is why the servers receiving orders for services must verify who requests the execution of services. That verification will be done in two ways:

  • for permanent network nodes this will be verification via the server LOKALIZACJA (LOCATION) (checking addresses on that server),
  • for other users, authorization is done via the server AUTORYZACJA (AUTHORIZATION).
